Karuna is working to upgrade healthcare infrastructure of small-scale hospitals that provide affordable healthcare. Patients are operated at affordable costs. The large volumes will help ensure that this facility will not only pay for itself but also pay for another such facility.  Our focus is to ensure sustainability.

We established a specialist Eye Surgery facility at the Rural Medicare Center. The Rural Medicare Center is provides outpatient consulting services to over 10,000 eye patients and conducts eye camps in rural areas around Delhi serving an additional 1,000 patients.

There was a growing demand for surgical interventions at the Center due to a significant increase in number of eye patients. According to estimates, demand for eye care at the center is increasing by over 20% and 1,000+ cases requiring surgeries are identified each year. For this purpose, we funded a phacoemulsification system for cataract & glaucoma related surgical procedures.

The facility was launched on August 18, 2011. We will start posting details of surgeries conducted at the facility soon on our website.
